Keynote SOA: Service Oriented Architecture within the NGN Application Plane

An efficient architecture in the Next Generation Network (NGN) Application Plane is mandatory to meet the specific challenges of Service Delivery. Due to its characteristics, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is the architecture of choice to face current and future challenges of Service Delivery.

  • Flexible assembly of Telco Services from existing and new assets ensures fast availability of customer driven products. Overarching architecture leverages business unit assets to create seamless services. Using standardized interfaces for integration and exposure of services permits efficient sourcing and reselling.

  • Applying the NGN SOA Framework fosters business unit overarching integration and makes complexity manageable.
  • SOA is mature and applicable for Telco production.
  • Evaluation of market offerings and standard bodies show a broad acceptance of SOA. Examining the functional domains and middleware layer of the NGN SOA Framework confirmed the maturity of concepts, standards and products for use in the production environment.
